How we protect your links, your visitors and your data
Agencies and brands put 1Link® links on packaging, nameplates, print and paid campaigns, so they need to know those links will keep going where they were sent. This page sets out, in one place, how 1Link is built, how we handle abuse, and what we do with data. 1Link® is a product of TAPQUAD® Inc., a Canadian corporation.
Official domains
Every link and QR code that 1Link generates uses 1Link.app or 1lk.io. Those are the only official 1Link domains, both owned and operated by TAPQUAD Inc., and the app is published under TAPQUAD Inc. on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
Services with similar names, such as 1link.io, onelink.to, onelink.me, onelink.com and 1link.to, are separate businesses with no connection to TAPQUAD Inc. If you receive something branded 1Link from any other domain, do not enter account or payment details, and tell us so we can confirm whether it came from us.
How 1Link is built
- No code in your product. You create links and QR codes in the 1Link app. Your application and your website are never modified, and nothing of ours runs inside them, so adopting 1Link adds nothing to your codebase, your release cycle or your attack surface.
- Only your account can change a destination. Every link belongs to an authenticated 1Link account. Nobody outside it can repoint a link, attach a destination to it or ride on a code you have already printed.
- Dynamic QR codes. If a destination moves, breaks or turns out to be wrong, you change where the code goes. The printed run stays valid instead of becoming a reprint.
- Payments stay with Apple and Google. Subscriptions are bought inside the App Store or Google Play. TAPQUAD does not see or store your card or payment details.
Abuse handling
1Link is monitored for abuse, so a link you hand a customer or print on a machine plate keeps going where you sent it. The 1Link Terms of Use prohibit creating links with malicious purpose, sending spam, transmitting malicious code and using the service for anything illegal. In practice:
- TAPQUAD may review link creation and validate users and links at its discretion.
- Links and accounts that break the Terms can be removed, and violating them results in termination of the account.
- If the rules of the free trial are not followed, the trial account and its link are deleted.
- Any abuse of the trial or of the platform stops the account immediately, with a complete block on the account and a ban on future use of 1Link.
What data we collect
- Account details. The login (email address) and password needed to run your 1Link account.
- Link and QR code visits. Scans and clicks on the links you create, reported by device, platform and location. Visits are collected anonymously: the person who taps your link cannot be identified from them.
- What we do not collect. Postal addresses, credit card information or social security numbers.
Visit data is used only to give link owners the reporting they need to measure their campaigns. The full detail is in our Privacy and Cookie Policies.
Data retention
Link and QR code visit data is kept for 12 months. You can ask us to remove it sooner at any time by writing to [email protected].
Deleting an account
To permanently delete a 1Link account, email [email protected] from the email address registered on the account. All data, links, applications and related content on the account are then permanently deleted. The process is irreversible, so back up anything you need first.
Agencies and multiple accounts
Agencies can run links and QR codes for many clients from one account, with campaigns kept separate per client. When a third party manages 1Link accounts on behalf of other companies, developers or agencies, it must send written authorization to [email protected] naming the contacts who will act for each company. TAPQUAD verifies and approves these arrangements case by case.
Report a problem
To report a suspicious link, a look-alike domain or any misuse of 1Link, or to ask about your data, email [email protected] or [email protected].
